A line can be divided into two parts so that:
the longer part divided by the smaller part
is equal to
the whole length divided by the longer part.
Referring to the lines illustrated below:
line a divided by line b
is equal to
(line a plus line b) divided by line a.

The ratio between these two parts is called the Golden Ratio, which can be represented by a numerical value called Phi.
