JRN 640 Assignment 7

Botanical Image One

This image was modified with various filter effects in Photoshop, including chrome, neon glow, glowing edges, plastic wrap, and poster edge. These effects were applied on different layers, with varying opacity to combine into this image. Compare this to the original image below.

Botanical Image Two

This picture was taken of a wheat field overlooking Kandern, Germany. Filter effects were used in Photoshop, including watercolor and poster edge. A layer was added with a mask to desaturate the background slightly. I tried making the background monochrome, but this looked too stark. Another layer has the inverse area (the wheat field) selected, with more saturation added to bring out the color of the wheat. A selection was made of the tall wheat plant, and some of the central area, allowing the filtered effect to be concentrated on the center of the image, fading away the effect on the edges. Combined below are the original image on the left, and the adjusted image on the right:

Botanical Image Three

This sunflower was growing on the edge of the vineyards in Augen, Germany. I like the original picture I took, though I wish the bee would have been in focus in the upper right corner. I decided to create a different version of this picture using Photoshop, including use of the Spatter filter, and adding lighting effects and lens flare to simulate the sun in the picture. I also added text, using an embossed effect. The first picture below is the original, followed by the modified image.
